Koh Samui, which is famous round the world as an island of coconut trees, is located in the Gulf of Thailand. It is a district of Surat Thani Province of Thailand. The beautiful city is the third largest island of Thailand, after Phuket and Koh Chang. Koh Samui covers an area about 247 km with seven subdistricts and an estimated population of more than 50,000.
