Pattaya is one of the cities of Thailand, which is situated on the eastern coast of the Gulf of Thailand. It covers almost 165 km southeast area of Thailand consists of whole tambon Nong Prue (Nongprue) and Na Kluea (Naklua) and parts of Huai Yai and Nong Pla Lai. Pattaya, which was formerly known as Phatthaya, is a self governing municipal area. The city's population is estimated to be somewhere around 300,000 to 500,000. Initially, Pattaya was famous as a small fishing village, but since 1961, it has been one of the popular beach resorts among the visitors.
